One of the most important tasks in automotive air conditioning service is leak detection.
In many cases a lack of refrigerant is the reason for a decreasing performance of the A/C system. Before recharging the A/C system the service technician needs to check whether the loss of refrigerant came ‘naturally’ due to the life-time of the A/C system or because there is a leak.
The four most important methods for detecting leaks are:
- Leak detection with electronic leak detectors
- Tracer gas leak detection
- Leak detection with Nitrogen and leak detection spray
- UV leak detection
